The Bank of Hiawassee, among the oldest banks in northeast Georgia, was established in 1909. In 1997, Chatuge Bank Shares, Inc. was formed as the holding company for Bank of Hiawassee, Bank of Blairsville, and Bank of Blue Ridge.
